Sports Day- NLFP conducted its Annual Sports Meet on Friday, 30th Nov ‘18 at Sassoon Ground, Byculla. The Sports Meet started with the assembly where the Sports Head, Riva Jain took the Sports day oath with all the students. Soon after athletic races 100m, 200m and 400m relay were conducted for seniors (Std IX and X), intermediates (Std VIII and IX NIOS) and juniors (Std VI and VII). The morning session concluded with races for the female and male staff of NLFP.

The post lunch session saw a spectacular drill performed by students of std VI- VIII and IX.C (NIOS) with pipes colourfully decorated in house colours with pompoms. This was followed by a March past by the four houses. Chief guest Ms. Kranti Salvi, winner of several marathons and a Guinness World Record holder for running the Berlin Full Marathon in a 9-yard saree, took the salute. Students were awarded certificates, medals and trophies for their outstanding performances on the field. Sports boy of the year was Mustafa Vora and Sports girl of the year was Yesha Jain. The Equus house bagged the award for the Best house in March past (second time in a row). The trophy for the Best House in Drill was wrested by the Pumas house. Best House in Sports for the year 2018-19 was bagged by Eagles house. The ceremony ended with fun races for parents and ex-students.

The advantages of children playing sports are:-

  • They get physical exercise, so they are fitter when they grow up
  • They understand the importance of team work and co-ordination
  • They become stronger and competitive rather than submissive and weak
  • They learn to respect other people
  • They become more communicative and outgoing
  • Their self-esteem gets boosted
  • They get exposure to different situation and people
  • They realize the importance of working hard.

  • Races- 50mtrs, 100mtrs, 200mtrs,Relay

  • Tug-of-war
  • Swimming
  • Students are also made to practise march-past for better coordination.
